Outstanding contemporary works made in the tradition of Islamic art and design have gone on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).
The pieces – ranging from sculpture to digital collages – are all by the 10 artists & designers shortlisted for the annual Jameel Prize. The £25,000 international art award this year saw 200 nominations from countries as diverse as the United States, Spain, Nigeria, Egypt and Pakistan.
The works are on display in the South Kensington museum’s Studio Gallery. The overall winner of the Jameel Prize will be announced on 12 September as chosen by a panel of judges, chaired by former V&A director Sir Mark Jones.
