Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world’s leading conservatoires. Our extensive performance programme offers visitors the chance to hear the world’s best young musicians.
Each year we stage three opera productions in our exquisite Britten Theatre. The world’s leading conductors such as Bernard Haitink and Vladimir Ashkenazy direct our orchestral season in our Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. Beyond those, every week there are dozens of chamber concerts, solo recitals, family workshops, jazz concerts, lectures, masterclasses and other special events, many of which are free of charge.
The RCM is also home to an internationally famous Museum of Instruments, which houses treasures such the world’s oldest strung keyboard instrument, a large collection of portraits of composers and performers, and instruments belonging the likes of Holst and Elgar.
You’re bound to find something that will interest and entertain.
