Exhibition Road Infrastructure Project

The Exhibition Road Scheme is a £25m project to improve the infrastructure of, access to, and facilities within the Exhibition Road area. Led by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in partnership with the City of Westminster and the Mayor of London, it is due for completion in 2011, in time for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The project, designed by Dixon Jones Architects, aims to turn Exhibition Road into one of the finest streetscapes in London, and the best possible environment for all users and residents of the area, including the 19 million visitors it attracts each year. Exhibition Road has attracted international attention and support has not only come from the project partners but also from the Government and several statutory authorities. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport has recognised the project as one of national significance and English Heritage believe that the project will enhance historic assets in the area. The Cultural Group is also fully behind the scheme.
