Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall is one of the UK’s most treasured and distinctive buildings, recognisable the world over. It is a registered charity and receives no public funding. It was created as part of Prince Albert’s vision for a Central Hall of the Arts and Sciences and since opening in 1871, the world’s leading artists from every kind of performance genre have appeared on its stage.

Today, well over a million people enjoy the 360+ events that are held in the Hall’s auditorium each year, from classical music, jazz, world music, circus, rock and pop concerts to ballet and opera, dance, comedy, tennis, charity concerts, film premieres, award ceremonies and much more.

The Hall also offers tours of the building, ignite and ignite brunch, lunchtime jazz and world music in the Café Consort on Fridays and Sundays, and a free exhibition series entitled reflect. It has recently opened the Elgar Room, a state-of-the-art performance space which hosts performances of classical music, jazz, comedy, dance and hush – a series for just signed bands.

It also works extensively with schools and young people through its Learning & Participation programme.
